We educate over 12,000 children each year, performing primarily for field trips from area schools. We also encourage individual families to make DDHT a daytime or weekend destination.

Admission
There is a $1 admission for each person attending. This admission will help to support the continued expansion and development of our oral health and wellness programming for children and adults.

Award-Winning Childrens' Oral Health Education
The Delta Dental Health Theatre (DDHT), educating children and families for over 33 years, has gained a regional reputation for presenting educational and motivational programs that positively impacts the oral health care behaviors of children.

Utilizing a diverse media approach, DDHT offers a live health educator and interactive games to personally impact each child. In addition, children view an educational DVD and interact with hands on exhibits that promote oral health, nutrition and exercise.

Now and in the future, we will also educate children and families on the potential relationship between oral health and overall health.

Acclaimed Feature Presentation And Curriculum Land of Smiles
This year, DDHT features the award-winning Delta Dental of Missouri DVD, “Land of Smiles,” starring the Tooth Wizard, his furry pal Panda and their arch enemy PlaqueMan. This program tours 300 Missouri schools each year to educate school children about the importance of oral health and instructs children on how to take care of their teeth and smile.

In 2008 “Land of Smiles” won a bronze Telly award, competing with national childrens’ programming from public television, HBO and other national networks. In addition, “Land of Smiles” received a 2008 FOCUS St. Louis award celebrating non-profit programs that represent the best that the St. Louis region has to offer. Finally “Land of Smiles” was nationally recognized by AHIP (America’s Health InsurancePlans) for community leadership.

A Visit To Healthy Hollow
For Special Events Only. DDHT will also feature a state-of-the-art puppet show, “A Visit to Healthy Hollow,” developed by dentists and dental professionals with the assistance of a local Emmy award-winning producer of children’s programming. This program emphasizes daily oral health habits for children advocated by the American Dental Association.
