The theatre’s stage is surround above by 16 three feet high fiberglass teeth which light up as guests learn the important dental health, fitness and nutrition habits. There are only 2 sets of these types of teeth in the world and the other set of teeth is in disrepair in California.

 
Greeting all visitors is our special health ambassador, our animatronic, talking toucan, Youcan. Youcan talks about how a healthy life awaits anyone with the right knowledge, the right habits and the right attitude. He encourages all guests to believe they can achieve good oral health and overall health.


Every program is facilitated by a health educator who interacts with the audience, answers children’s questions, and hosts the festivities.


Delta Dental’s very popular oral health program, “Land of Smiles” is a feature presentation this year. “Land of Smiles” tours over 320 elementary schools in Missouri each year, plus dozens of area health fairs, and stars the “Tooth Wizard,” and his furry pal, “Panda.” Together they battle their arch enemy, the pesky “PlaqueMan.” For a preview, visit www.landofsmilesvideo.com

 
Deep in the Kingdom of Healthy Smiles is a quiet and beautiful forest called “Healthy Hollow,” where animals (our puppet stars) talk with children and teach them how to be their best, healthiest selves. This fun, innovative puppet show is available during special events only. We will keep you posted when you might be able to catch a glimpse into Healthy Hollow.


We find that some of our children do not recognize healthy foods vs. junk foods and are not able to identify sugary snacks. Part of our live curriculum focuses on distinguishing the good foods from the bad foods and stresses the importance of making healthy choices. In addition, we have the “Fit Foods Game” on our web site. With the web-based game on our web site, the good eating message in the live program can be reinforced at home.


Every child who attends receives a “Healthy Smile Kit” filled with dental tools. Thanks to sponsors like Missouri Foundation for Health, ADA, and Delta Dental of Missouri, the theatre hands out Healthy Smile Kits comprised of a toothbrush, toothpaste, flossers, pencil, sticker, disclosing tablet, timer and community resource card (for parents to access a variety of dental services throughout the St. Louis area) all sealed nicely in a reusable pencil bag. We take our show on the road by participating in health fairs, and outreach activities. These “mobile” programs focus on a variety of topics, including preventing baby bottle tooth decay in infants and early childhood oral health and nutrition. Roadshow Availablility is limited.
